Kids Birthday Party Ideas

S and T went to two birthday parties this week at places we have never been before, so I thought I would share some new places/ideas for birthday parties with you all.

Home Depot  - Yes that is correct, you can have a party at home depot.  They let you use their break room for the party and you get to build something.  At the party, we went to the kids built birdhouses.  It was great fun and for my kids it was a first to truly build something with hammers and nails. If you go to the monthly building with your kids classes at home depot, it is very similar to that.  The party lasted about 1 hour and 15mins and the parents brought in the pizza, cake and drinks.  The price is really good. Home depot provides all the supplies and the room, you supply the cake and drinks.

Kaleidoscope Kids Museum - The kids really enjoyed the party, we had not visited this new place yet at 61st and Sheridan.  There are about 5 different rooms that have themes that the kids can run around and play in.  As an FYI - if you are a planning party there bring help to watch all the kids. Parents that stay for the party have to pay the admission price.

But the kids really enjoyed both parties and they give you an alternative to the regular places your kids have probably already been to.

dinner and movie

Lastt night had dinner at Bali Fusion by Sun and Ski then saw the movie Rachel's Getting Married with Anne Hathaway.

Food was actually pretty good and so was the movie. Anne Hathaway has grown up from the Princess Diaries. Not a real upbeat movie but told a realistic story about a dysfuntional family.

If you are into slightly different movies check this one out.

More on breast feeding

I was given this recipe by a mom who said that it helped increase milk production.

>Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies

>Ingredients :

>* 1 cup butter or marg (I use a light marg myself)
>* 1 cup sugar
>* 1 cup brown sugar
>* 4 tablespoons water
>* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal*
>* 2 large eggs
>* 1 teaspoon vanilla
>* 2 cups flour (I use whole wheat flour to make them healthier...didn't notice a difference in taste)
>* 1 teaspoon baking soda
>* 1 teaspoon salt
>* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
>* 1 cup or more chocolate chips (or Craisins or raisins instead, and/or chopped roasted walnuts or either kind of nut, or dark chocolate, etc.)
>* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous, once I was use to the taste, I add 3Tbs)

>Directions:

>Preheat oven at 375 degrees F. Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes. Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended. Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips. Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.

Saturday Clinc

No clinic today. Today is my wife's birthday and the kids and I need to go find a present.

So that combined with the start of the OU game at 2:30-will not be available today.

The Warren Clinic urgent care at 63 Yale is where you should go this weekend if needed.

Hopefully the urgent care clinic that I am helping to open will be ready to go Feb 1. Unfortunately my Community Care patients will not be able to go to this Urgent Care and will still need to go to the Warren Clinic UC

We tried hard to contract with CC but they will not. Maybe if you have CC you can ask your HR dept to ask CC if they would reconsider.

Food/Painting

In regard to the comment-I have eaten at Farhoods-but was in highschool-and we just ate the subs.  I believe may have been called Antoines then?

Halloween candy

How do you deal with maasive amount of candy that your kids get?

Allow them to eat a certain number of pieces each day, etc.

Pee Therapy

In regard to a couple of comments, there is a program by occupational therapists at Hillcrest who work with kids that have problems with bed wetting.  They typically will only see kids after the age of 6 or 7.  They use behavioral modification with an alarm.  Their success rate is unbelievable.  Almost 100%.  Some how they get the kids to buy into the program and by two weeks, the kids are dry at night.
