I know that Dr Raley has written about the Wire which was show on HBO that we watched. The show is great. I recommend everyone take the time to watch it. There are four season, each focusing a different group in the city of Baltimore and how they are affect by drugs, government and economic changes in their city. Season 3 is intoxicating. They focus on four kids in the Baltimore public schools. I became so invested in what would happen to these kids. I was really glad when they brought them back in season 4 to have their lives wrapped up. Sometimes when watching the show you think this must be not really happen but it does and even in Tulsa. I have not been following what has been going on in TPS and their one school but I read an editorial about it and thought to myself. This could be on the Wire. Their our so many lessons in this show and so many areas in highlights that we has a society need to work on making better. As we watched a show about making the show one of the things that was highlighted about Season 3 was that they are hoping that by people watching the show they will have some answers on how to fix some of our Urban schools. Season 4 has the kids from Season 3 and also focuses on Homelessness. I found this season equally as interesting. When I was in Junior League, I worked at the Homeless shelter in Tulsa. It was eye opening and we felt like the programs we helped established would begin the process to make a difference in people's lives. The Wire is smart, well written show, it shows how drugs has devastated a part of our society and it makes you wonder if we can really win some of those areas back. It highlights a cycle and culture that hopefully unless we are in law enforcement or social work, we do not have to deal with on a daily basis but it is a cycle that is hurting America. And we need to think about how it can be stopped. I hope you take the time to watch Dr Raley and I both felt it brought a new preceptive to our thinking.
